Our INITIATIVES
Real Men - Real Talk
At Gee's MKE Foundation, we believe in the power of community. One of our most powerful and ongoing initiatives is our involvement with “Real Men, Real Talk,” which is held every third Monday at Gee’s Clippers, located on North Dr. Martin Luther King Drive. Typically, 100 to 150 men show up and have conversations about life, challenges, and encourage each other through information sharing and resources.
Gee's MKE Wellness Clinic
The Gees Wellness Clinic is a barbershop initiative builds on the trust and strength of the barbershop among African American men. This critical, cultural asset has an opportunity to bridge client needs with the many assets that exist in Milwaukee related to health and social services. This initiative meets men where they are and support those who need support connecting to appropriate primary and behavioral health homes and/or social service providers and resources.
This project was co-created with Anthem and Gee's Barbershop. The barbers refer their clients to a Wellness Genius who provides an assessment and enrolls them into the program. The Wellness Geniuses are staffed by Anthem staff. .
Gee's Clippers Community Initiatives
Other Initiatives for the community over the past 29 years were conducted under the Gee's Clipper's Brand and are now a part of our Gee's MKE Foundation Initiatives.
